Instagram has become a source of inspiration across all fronts. From food to fashion to art and design, there are hundreds of thousands of accounts to inspire. And while the number of Instagrammers are endless, navigating the saturated platform can be overwhelming. From new-age design influencers to industry veterans, interior design Instagram accounts stimulate a new sense of connection between designers and homeowners, making the entire process more mainstream. Social media is both a creative outlet and a vital way for designers to find and attract new clients.

In the nine years since Instagram hit the App Store, it has become the tool of choice for interior designers and young decorators across the globe. "I've met so many people on Instagram," says Mark D. Sikes, whose preppy, all-American style has earned him 150,000 fans. "It's less polished than a professionally produced design portfolio, but it puts you literally into the hands of the public, showing them who you are and what you love."

A new wave of interior designers are setting the pace with their social-media savvy approach to design, and we've broken down some of our favorite interior designer accounts that everyone should #follow.

1 Justina Blakeney

The artist, designer, and inventor of the term "Jungalow" (jungle + bungalow) crafts interiors that beg to be Instagrammed. Justina Blakeney is a master of this colorful and lively aesthetic, with an Instagram page that overflows with plant-filled, tropical inspiration.

2 Malene Barnett

"My philosophy is don't worry about perfection," says Malene Barnett, designer and founder of Black Artists + Designers Guild. "When you get an idea, take action. Just do it, execute quickly, and tweak later." On Barnett's Instagram page, you'll find gorgeous interiors, inspiring art, and an overall sense of empowerment, through the design world and beyond.

3 Emily Henderson

Emily Henderson is an LA-based celebrity blogger, interior designer, and TV personality, who crafts refined interiors with a bohemian edge. If you head over to her Instagram—which has attracted over 900,000 followers—you'll find bright, color-filled spaces that are oh so photogenic.

4 Corey Damen Jenkins

Corey Damen Jenkins—interior designer, tastemaker, and media personality extraordinaire—crafts high-glam interiors that embody his sophisticated aesthetic. One scroll through his Instagram and you'll see: CDJ is a must-follow for any design lover.

5 Young Huh

As the principal and founder of Young Huh Interiors, the Detroit native is an active Instagrammer with a bright and summery page to match her signature aesthetic.

6 Orlando Soria

Orlando Soria— designer and host of HGTV's "Unspouse My House" and "Build Me Up"—uses Instagram to share his bright and modern interiors, and is always ready to engage with his 197,000 followers.

7 Ariel Ashe & Reinaldo Leandro

Ariel Ashe and Reinaldo Leandro—founders of Ashe + Leandro—are the golden couple of interior design. Known for their "modern luxury" aesthetic, the two create comfortable spaces that are functional and lived in, with a distinct sense of style. Their Instagram page—which serves as a sort of second portfolio for the brand—is wonderfully curated with design for everyone.

8 Ken Fulk

An industry native and one of the interior design world's biggest names, Ken Fulk shares his signature eclecticism and irresistible interiors with his 70k followers, where he invites fans to take a look into his aesthetically-driven lifestyle that makes for an Instagram dreamland.

9 Alyssa Kapito

Airy, tailored rooms—with posh urban exteriors—is the perfect way to describe Alyssa Kapito's beloved aesthetic. "[I] try to break the mold every time," says Kapito.

10 Sasha Bikoff

A household name in the world of design, Sasha Bikoff has exhibited her work at the Salone del Mobile, Kips Bay Decorator Show House, DIFFA, and more. With an aesthetic that fuses vintage French styles with a modernist sensibility, Bikoff's Instagram page is no less impressive. Her 2,500+ posts embody her fearless aesthetic and keen eye for design.

11 Ashley Whittaker

The self-described "youthful traditional" decorator sees Instagram as advertising. "Clients feel like they know you — your style, your humor—before you even meet," she says.

12 Tilton Fenwick

ELLE Decor A-list designers Anne Maxwell Foster and Suysel dePedro Cunningham of Tilton Fenwick run a color-punched instagram account that puts your right in the heart of their designs and inspiration. If you're a pattern junkie who lives for summer palettes, this account is for you.

13 Mark D. Sikes

The L.A.-based designer (featured in our March 2019 issue) with a passion for blue and white has found that posts on gardens and big Federal-and Georgian-style houses garner the most likes. "And never say anything negative," he says.

14 Grant K. Gibson

The San Francisco decorator says naturally lit shots and images of his Westie, Wesley, bump up engagement. An editor, whom he met through Instagram, published his first book last year.

15 Josh Greene

When it comes to Instagram, Josh Greene takes a low-key online approach. "The platform trains you to be your own PR machine, but the narcissism is out of hand!" jokes Greene (Photo courtesy @ninachoiphotography).

16 Nick Olsen

This former Miles Redd associate calls his feed a "hodgepodge lodge of inspiration." "I love color and texture, but humor is a must!" Olsen says. "I take this seriously. But I never want it to read as 'serious.'"

17 Paloma Contreras

Contreras says she has been hired by Instagram followers, but just as often they want details about the rooms she designs: the wallpaper, fabric, furniture. "I post once a day," she says.

18 Sara Gilbane

"A client resisted the blue-and-orange palette I proposed for her dining room," says Gilbane. So she posted the scheme, it got nearly 500 likes, and her client was sold. "Instagram," she adds, "is a great third opinion."
